Top Ten...

Ok- there is nothing new about a Top Ten list. But, this one isn't mine- it's yours. Take a few minutes, think about this, and respond. I am using the results in a project.

Let's set the stage. You are talking to someone who is not a Christian, but who is open to what you have to say. They have expressed that they are neutral about the Bible- they aren't sure about its authority or authenticity but are willing to check it out. But importantly, they have limited time, and ask you for a quick reference list to check out.

Here is your assignment-
  1. List, in order, the ten most important Bible passages this person should read.
  2. These passages should not be longer than can be read in a minute or two.
  3. You should include a one or two sentence explanation of why this passage is important.
Respond in the comments or email me with your lists.

  1. Okay, Top Ten. Hmmmm........leave it to you Mr. Hal to make my brain hurt..I mean inspire me to grow spiritually!! :-)

I'm not great at putting things in order and organizing thoughts but I'm going to give it my best effort because there is no more worthy cause than to help someone know Jesus.

    1. John 14:1-6 (Jesus is the way the truth and the life. He is the way to salvation, joy, love and truth.)
    2. John 3:16-21 - (Salvation and God's love and sacrifice for us.)
    3. IICor 5:17-18 - (Once we ask Jesus into our hearts we become a new creature, letting go of our old ways and baggage and beginning again in His love.)
    4. IJohn 1 (God's word, the word of life, why it is the truth and we have sin but can find forgiveness and life in Him.)
    5. ICor. 12 (explains spiritual gifts, who gives them and how we are all part of the body of Christ or His plan and purpose. We are all needed and valuable because He made us.)
    6. Eph. 4 - (Explains in such clear and beautiful detail how to live a life worthy of Christ)
    7. Matt. 22:37-40 - (The great commandment and its 2nd that all others fall under.)
    8. ICor. 13 - (the true and complete definition of love)
    9. Romans 12 - (Another clear and beautiful description of how to live in Christ being transformed by His word and love.)
    10. Phil. 4:4-9 (How to take every need to Christ and focus on everything pure and true to get through life on earth and find the peace that only comes from the Lord.)
